Economic Development:

The Birtle & District Community Development Corporation (BDCDC) was established on August 19, 1996.
The corporation is composed of two shareholders; the Town of Birtle and the Rural Municipality of Birtle and is operated by a volunteer board of directors who are appointed by the shareholders.
The Corporation employs a full-time Economic Development Officer to assist in carrying out the duties of the Corporation. The office is located in the Birtle & District Community Development Centre on Main Street.
The BDCDC was established to coordinate and carry out community economic development activities that will assist in employment creation and will make the community a better place to work and live. The BDCDC operates a Community Works Loan Program that provides funding for small businesses in the Town and RM of Birtle.

The Birtle and District Community Development Corporation also runs a Business Incubator Centre, known as the Birtle & District Community Development Centre, that allows new businesses to start up in.
The BDCDC renovated an existing building on Main Street that provides suitable space for small business development. Renovations begin in March of 1997 and opened in August.
The business incubation Centre has space for up to eight new businesses. This once unproductive building has become an active hub that is the pride of the BDCDC.

Job Market:

Traditionally, large labour markets have been the attraction for business. The trend is changing and businesses are now looking more at employee attitudes, employee productivity, employee retention time, and labour costs.
Competitively priced office and industrial or commercial facilities can be built or purchased to suit your needs in our community.
Business and living costs are lower in a small community, and with telecommunications options increasing, business makes more sense in a smaller community.
Seasonal and/or part time employment opportunities exist in our community
