New Home Grant Policy
Birtle is a thriving community in
south western Manitoba with an approximate population of 670.
It is situated in the Beautiful Birdtail Valley and has an array of recreational opportunities for you and your family to enjoy.
Known nation wide for its participation in Communities in Bloom, Birtle has been awarded the 1999
Provincial and 2000 National Communities in Bloom honour, with special recognition for their tidiness and Municipal Park. In 2001
Birtle captured the Canadian Classic Championship and were recognized for community involvement.
In 2002 they once again maintained their 5-bloom status in the Canadian Classic Challenge with special mention for their newly developed arboretum.
The Town of Birtle is excited to implement a new home grant policy that will assist all of us in building our future.
We are committed to providing individuals who erect new homes in the Town of Birtle up to $5,000 over a five-year period.
Some of the conditions for the New Home Grant Policy are as follows;
Maximum amount available: Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00)
Minimum size of 800 square feet.
Minimum assessed value of $50,000.
Grant to apply to either Town owned lot or private lot.
To qualify, no added cost to Town of Birtle for infrastructure except normal water and sewer dig from main water / sewer line to property line
House must be completed within one (1) year of construction start. Basement may or may not be finished at a later date. An occupancy permit
may be required.
All permits must be obtained in a timely fashion and be signed off by the proper authority when completed.
Money will be paid in the form of a grant at the rate of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per year for five (5) years.
All Grant applications must utilize existing lots and will not apply to new developments
Building must comply with zoning by-law in effect at time of construction commencement.
To receive grant, property taxes must be current.
House must remain in the community (Town of Birtle) to receive the maximum grant.
(Note: Older Homes
and Mobile Homes moved into the Town of Birtle
that are assessed between
$30,000-49,900 may receive
incentives under the Older Homes
Grant Policy - see below)
Older Home Grant Policy
The Town of Birtle is also offering incentives over a five-year period to individuals who move
mobile and Older homes into the Town of Birtle.
Some of the conditions for the
Older Home Grant Policy are as follows;
Mobile and Older Homes into Birtle must have a minimum assessed value
between $30,000 - $49,900 to qualify.
Grant to apply to either Town owned lot or private lot.
To qualify, no added cost to Town of Birtle for infrastructure except normal water and sewer dig from main water / sewer line
to property line
Set up must be completed within six (6) months of arriving on lot.
All necessary permits must be obtained and signed off by the proper authority.
Incentive will be paid in the form of a grant at the rate of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per year for five (5) years.
All Grant applications must utilize existing lots and will not apply to new subdivisions.
Must comply with zoning by-law in effect at time of arrival at site.
Home/Trailer must remain in the community (Town of Birtle) to receive the maximum grant.
To receive grant property taxes must be current.
